I knew Peter through Lizzie while we were at school at St Benedict’s. When Lizzie and I would hang out, I got to meet him, and I always loved seeing him. He was consistently kind to me, such a genuinely lovely person to be around. Lizzie has been the best friend I could ever ask for, and I’ve shared so much of my life with her in one way or another. I’m so sorry for your loss. I also want to celebrate and honour a great man’s life, and I hope my words bring even a small comfort at such a tragic and difficult time.

Mum knew Uncle Peter long before he married Jo and became her brother-in-law… Peter was one of her pupils in her first teaching post and she never forgot the very first joke he ever told her! Uncle Peter was always fun (lasting memory of him when I was a kid was playing ‘My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean’ on his ukulele and getting me and Vicky to stand up and sit down every time he sang a word beginning with ‘B’!), always ready with a joke (even when I was grown up and mum had her weekly phone call with Jo, I’d be called to the phone so Uncle Peter could tell me his latest joke!), always warm and kind. In later years, I knew I could sneak a cigarette off him at family gatherings, and we’d have a little chat. He is going to be very missed, and all my love goes to Jo, James, Vicky, Lizzie, Spencer and Tony xx
